Tour Program
Day 1
You will be picked up from Halle/Leipzig airport and brought to your Hotel in Leipzig to rest after the flight.
Day 2
After the night in today's fastest-growing and trendiest city in East Germany, you will take a walk to St. Thomas Church, a place where Johann Sebastian Bach was working as a music director till his death in 1750. The Church also holds his remains. It’s also known for its boy's choir and a place where Thomas Luther used to preach. Just across the street, you will visit Bachs Museum. After that, you will enjoy lunch and a free afternoon for city walks. Overnight in Leipzig.
Day 3
Early in the morning, we will travel to Bayreuth, a city where Richard Wagner spent the last days of his life and built The Bayreuth Festival Theatre. Today it's a venue for the annual Bayreuth Festival. Here you will take a tour of a baroque and UNESCO-listed Margravial Opera House. Afterword that you will enjoy a nice lunch and a free afternoon or alternatively we can have a short drive outside of the city to Eremitage to have a walk among fountains in this historical park. Overnight in Bayreuth.
Day 4
Today we head to our first Austrian destination, Salzburg - a city of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Here you will take a Mozart-Tour with a local guide to learn about the most important places for music history, including a Birthplace and a Residence of this young music prodigy. After the tour, you will enjoy dinner. Overnight in Salzburg.
Day 5
We stay in beautiful Salzburg for a whole day in order for you to relax a bit longer, have some chance for souvenir shopping, a walk along the river and a visit to Fortress Hohensalzburg for a stunning panoramic view of the city and its mountain-covered landscapes. Alternatively, you can choose to visit an incredible Salt Mine Museum near Salzburg. In the evening you will enjoy dinner in the city. Overnight in Salzburg.
Day 6
After a 3-hours drive, we will arrive in the Mekka of music lovers from all over the World. Vienna was the world music capital and stronghold for composers. Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven shaped her time with operas, festivals and concerts. After check-in to your hotel and a free afternoon, you will experience a classical music concert at St. Peter’s Church with a nice dinner afterward. Overnight in Vienna.
Day 7
The second day in Vienna is all about experiencing the musical heritage of the city. After breakfast in the hotel, you will take a walking guided tour including entry into the State Opera and Mozarthaus. Alternatively, you can choose to take a guided tour of a Schönbrunn Palace with its Gardens and Orangerie. After the tour, you will have lunch and a free afternoon to stroll through more of the historic sights and maybe have a coffee in Café Central, possibly the most famous of the Vienna coffee house. Overnight in Vienna.
Day 8
Early in the morning, we travel to the Czech Republic and check-in into a hotel in Prague. After lunch, you can choose between strolling through the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle on your own or rather taking a guided tour and learn more about historical and musical places like Rudolfinum - a seat of Czech Philharmonic or Estates Theater (where Don Giovanni has its premiere) and many more. Overnight in Prague.
Day 9
Today we will drive back to Germany. We will visit the city of Halle (Saale), a charming place connected to Georg Freidrich Händel. Here you will visit the Birthplace of the famous composer. After enjoying lunch, you will have the possibility to visit Halloren, the oldest chocolate factory in Germany. With its chocolate store, you will probably need an extra suitcase for your flight back the following day.
Day 10
We will drive to the airport in Leipzig for your flight home on the last day.
