Tour Program
Day 1: Krakow
Your private driver and tour director will pick you up from your hotel in the Berlin area at 7 a.m. During a comfortable drive to Poland you will enjoy free snacks and beverages on board. Around 2 p.m. you will arrive in Krakow for the hotel check-in. In the afternoon you will explore the Old Town of Krakow. Stroll around the Market Square accompanied by the sounds of trumpet, a musical symbol of Krakow coming from the Tower of Saint Mary’s Basilica every full hour. Hunt for some unique hand-made souvenirs in Cloth Hall, a famous historical trade center. Climb up a Wawel Hill to see the marvelous Royal Castle holding the crypts with Royal Tombs. The legend has it that centuries ago a vicious dragon lived under the Wawel Hill and terrorized the people of Krakow. If you are like maybe you will find the Dragons Den and the beast itself. In the evening you will enjoy a dinner à la carte in one of the traditional polish restaurants where you can try renowned polish dishes like e.g. pierogi, gołąbki or żurek soup. After dinner, you will be back in your hotel to rest. Overnight in Krakow.
Day 2: Auschwitz & Wieliczka Salt Mine
After early breakfast in the hotel, you will be able to rest a bit more during the 1,5-hour drive to Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and State Museum. With a guided tour you will visit the most notorious former German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp. A visit with an educator provides a better understanding of this unique location where over 1.1 million lives of men, women, and children were taken. It may not be a pleasant visit, but the in-depth confrontation with our concept of humanity and the remains of Auschwitz is critical to understanding postwar Europe and the world. The second stop this day will be at the Wieliczka Salt Mine. During a tour through the underground tunnels, you will admire extraordinary landscapes, salt lakes and beautiful underground chambers, including the one-of-a-kind Chapel of St. Kinga almost entirely made of salt. You will learn about old mining tools and machines, as well as historical methods of salt extraction and transportation. After dinner, you will be back in your hotel the second overnight in Krakow.
Day 3: Jasna Góra Monastery
After the breakfast in your hotel, you will head back direction Germany. On the way, you will stop in Czestochowa to visit Jasna Gora Monastery. This monastery complex, founded in 1382 is the most important sanctuary in Poland and has been performing this function invariably since the beginning of its existence. It is one of the largest and most significant pilgrimage centers in Central Europe. Inside the monastery, you can find the famous painting of the Black Madonna (Virgin Mary) and learn more about the history and importance of this place. Continue the journey back to Germany to arrive in the Berlin area around 7 p.m. where your private tour ends.
